DIY Social Impact Reporting

Tuesday 1st March 2011

We all know we need to get better at telling people about the good that we do. But how do you do that in a way that doesn’t use up loads of time and use up resources that you don’t have?

This practical workshop will explore ways to keep track of, and then report on, the social impacts that you have through the work that you do. We’ll offer some thoughts and guidance, but equally the workshop will be about sharing what you’ve done – or seen others do – so that between us we can come up with some practical ways to report on social impacts.

By the end of the session we hope to have come up with some practical, do-able ways for you to start recording and reporting on the social impacts that your organisation has.

Who should come to this workshop?
Anyone from an organisation which is looking to deliver services to people in Bradford in line with the Personalisation Agenda. If we are oversubscribed, we will give priority to organisations working with older people (as funding for this project is focused on older people’s services primarily).

How will you decide what to charge people with an Individual Account for the services that you provide to them?

This workshop will be of interest to any third sector organisations in Bradford which are looking to develop services for people as part of the Personalisation agenda.
The workshop will be practical and interactive and cover the following:

  • A brief overview of the process people go through to access an Individual Account.
  • Explore how to decide what to charge for your service.
  • How do you work out what to charge in order to sustain your service?
  • How can you tell whether your charge is something that customers will be happy to pay?

This workshop will be delivered by Elaine Carter-Walker from WYCAS.

Elaine has worked as a Management Accountant for over 25 years in both manufacturing and service environments and has also been a trainer for 15 of those years. She has experience of working in both the public and private sectors and has worked in the third sector for WYCAS since 2004.

Creative Support Planning Workshop

Thursday 8th February, 10:00am - 1:00pm

The Creative Support Planning Workshop will be on Thursday 8th February from 10:00am - 1:00pm at The Thornbury Centre

In this workshop we'll work together to consider some real, anonymised examples of people in Bradford who have been through the social care assessment process so that they could be offered an Individual Account.

We'll consider the outcomes that they said they'd like to achieve (in terms of independence, social interaction etc.) and we'll also see how much money they were allocated. We'll then work in small groups to consider creative ways that they could achieve their outcomes, whilst staying within budget. We can then compare our ideas with what they actually received - and discuss any issues that this raises.

Creative Support Planning

Thursday 18th November 2010, from 10:30 - 12:30 at Bradford Resource Centre

How can we come up with creative ways to help people to live the kind of life they'd like to lead?

In this workshop we'll work together to consider some real, anonymised examples of people in Bradford who have been through the social care assessment process so that they could be offered an Individual Account.

We'll consider the outcomes that they said they'd like to achieve (in terms of independence, social interaction etc) and we'll also see how much money they were allocated. We'll then work in small groups to consider creative ways that they could achieve their outcomes, whilst staying within budget.

We can then compare our ideas with what they actually received - and discuss any issues that this raises.

We hope that this event will be of interest to any organisations in Bradford who are interested in exploring how people could be supported through the support planning and brokerage processes. It might help us to identify how we could make a difference - and also stimulate ideas for services which aren't currently available.

Opportunities in Personalisation Workshop Social Business Brokers

We ran a workshop on the 20th July 2010, where we explored the opportunities presented by Personalisation. The workshop built on previous work in Bradford - such as activities that took place during Assembly Week.

The focus was to explore what opportunities exist. Some ideas included;

  • Work to develop the market for Personal Assistants
  • Support planning and brokerage
  • How to develop paid-for services funded by Personal Budgets
